Rainbow Moonstone 6mm Bracelet

$22.00

Rainbow Moonstone is a variety of the mineral feldspar known for its iridescent sheen, which displays a play of colors when it catches the light. It is mainly composed of the mineral orthoclase, with a small amount of albite and other feldspars.

Rainbow Moonstone gets its name from its flashy, rainbow-like appearance. This phenomenon, called adularescence, is caused by the scattering of light as it passes through the layers of the stone's structure. The thin, alternating layers of orthoclase and albite create this optical effect, resulting in a beautiful display of blue, white, and sometimes even peach or purple hues.

Geologically, Rainbow Moonstone is primarily found in metamorphic rocks, such as gneiss and schist. It can also be found in some igneous rocks, particularly those rich in potassium feldspar. Deposits of Rainbow Moonstone are found in various parts of the world, including Sri Lanka, India, Australia, and Madagascar.
